AfterElton Man of the Decade – The Battle!
01.03.10

You have until midnight on Sunday to cast your vote in AfterElton.com’s Man of the Decade poll. As of Friday morning, 80% of the votes cast were split between Neil and John Barrowman, with less than twenty separating the two of them. Neil requested that we vote for him, and apparently the difference is now a lot more than 20 votes. But Barrowman isn’t one to stand by and watch, and entered the battle himself, as well as calling on friends to endorse his bid to win. And now on the NPH side, Nathan Fillion and Felicia Day have joined in. So Neil fans, if you haven’t voted already, do it before time runs out!

In other news, there’s a wonderful new website called WhoseVoice.org. In their own words, they focus on “little known news stories behind the voiceovers, animation, video games and generally all things voice”. One of their first features is a really interesting look at Neil and all of the voice work that he’s done, with some clips you may not have seen before. Check it out here!

And a talk show heads up – Neil will be appearing on Jimmy Kimmel this coming Wednesday, January 6th, presumably to promote the 100th episode and the episode he directed. Other guests include Jeremy Renner and Really Doe. You can catch it at 12.05am (11.05pm central) on ABC.

TV Guide Emmy Picks
09.15.09

TV Guide have posted their Emmy picks and they have Neil listed under both “should win” and “will win”. They also expect 30 Rock to take the Best Comedy prize, but list HIMYM as their dark horse in the category, saying “CBS has proven itself the king of the traditional sitcom, so if there is an upset, I’d look for Mother to steal the prize”.

You can make your own opinion heard in their Reader Poll.

New interview & more award wins!
09.14.09

NYMag.com has a lovely new interview up with Neil. It’s quite long, and if you’re particularly spoiler averse, you might want to skip to page two before you start reading as the interview starts with a lovely observers-view of Neil and Cobie shooting a scene from early in season five. It’s the Sept 21st issue’s cover story, and if you live in the US you can order a copy here.

The results are finally in for Television Without Pity’s Tubey awards, and HIMYM came out on top in a number of categories! In the Scripted TV Shows section, HIMYM walked away with the awards for Best Comedy (beating out 30 Rock, amongst others) and “Show With the Best Internet Series Extension” thanks in no small part to Barney’s Blog and CanadianSexActs.org. On the Characters ballot, Barney was voted Favourite Character beating, well, every other character on television, as well as Best Sidekick. And while the Relationships and Storylines vote didn’t see Barney and Robin winning Best Almost-Romantic-But-Not-Quite Relationship (That went to TSCC’s John & Cameron), it was the TWoP staff pick for that category. But most importantly, under the Actors & Actresses section, Neil was voted Favourite Actor by both the TWoP readers and their staff. And that’s not even favourite comedy actor, it’s favourite overall! In the same section, HIMYM picked up the gong for Best Cast.

And Jeremy Piven won the award for... Most Undeserved Emmy Awarded in Sept 2008.

Teen Choice Awards nominations
06.18.09

Psychology Today has a lengthy review of the Tonys, with a nice quote on Neil’s performance.

“Harris was superb, relaxed, affable, great timing for comedic delivery and even managed some very pleasant delivery of a satirical number about the nominees and winners hurriedly delivered at the end of the show. Harris’ hilarious closing number re-inventing the lyrics to the music of West Side Story’s legendary song, “Tonight,” was a savory moment.”

Fox has announced the nominations for this year’s Teen Choice Awards. He’s nominated in the “Choice TV Actor: Comedy” category, and there’s certainly no Jeremy Piven in his category! His competition includes Steve Carell, Jonas Brothers, Charlie Sheen and Jerry Trainor. HIMYM is also nominated in the “Choice TV Show: Comedy” category against Hannah Montana, iCarly, The Office and Ugly Betty. To vote you have to register on the site and be aged 13-19. Once you’ve registered, you can vote once each day until the voting closes. The winners will be announced on Monday, August 10th on FOX.

“How I Met Your Artwork” & Video roundup
05.20.09

Laurie Pike from LAMag.com recently had the chance to attend a very special event – an art exhibition at Neil & David’s home in Studio City, CA. She posted up a blog about it yesterday, which you can read here.

eonline are having their annual “Tater Tops Awards”, and Neil (or Barney) are eligible in many categories, so cast your nomination votes!

Video roundup: The HIMYM finale aired on Monday night, and CBS have a spoilery interview with Neil and Josh regarding the finale here, so if you haven’t seen the episode yet, don’t watch the interview! You can watch the short scene from the Family Guy finale which Neil, Josh and Jason provided voiceover work for on Hulu if you’re in the US. ABC News have an interview with Neil from the day he was handing out chocolate in Times Square, and if you haven’t seen his interview on the Rachael Ray Show yet, you can watch it on her website. And finally, Neil appears in episode 8 of the Rock of Ages cast mockumentary, “The Haunting of the Brooks Atkinson Theater” Part 2.

Another news roundup
04.06.09

First a couple of little bits you’ll have seen if you’re following our Twitter account; you can vote for Neil (and a couple of other HIMYM nominees) at the TV IV Awards. Neil’s up for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series and is currently leading, ahead of 30 Rock’s Alec Baldwin, but it’s close at the moment!

Secondly, somebody at CBS has produced a montage video of Barney and Robin moments to promote the next new episode (“The Goat” reruns tonight; “Mosbius Designs” airs next Monday). The YouTube version is only viewable in the US, but lucky for us, CBS sent the video to HIMYM blog have-you-met-ted.com and you can view it here.

Finally, but most importantly, Neil attended Bravo’s A-List Awards last night. We’ve added a few pictures to the gallery of him receiving his award (as well as a few new photos from the Streamys) for “A-List Actor”! He won the “A-List Actor” category, having been nominated alongside David Duchovny, Jon Hamm, Julian McMahon and Hugh Laurie. The Bravo A-List Awards air on Bravo next Wednesday (April 15th) at 10/9c.

Gallery Update
03.13.09

Lots of bits and pieces added to the gallery! Caps from the second and third featurettes on the Dr Horrible DVD, caps from this week’s HIMYM episode, the World Magic Awards from October, and some shots of Neil in the audience of American Idol on the first and second weeks of top 36 eliminations. There’s also arrivals photos from the Academy of Magical Arts awards, Neil & David watching the LA Lakers, the original versions of the Saturday Night Live transition cards, and Neil arriving at the opening night of the Rent National Tour’s LA stop. So lots for you to check out!

In other news – CBS has ordered four HIMYM scripts for the 2009-2010 season. According to TV Week, “the early order is designed to give producers a head start on planning the show’s fifth year. While technically not the same as an early renewal, the script order makes it a virtual certainty that “HIMYM” will be back next fall”. HIMYM has been performing impressively in the ratings this year, and made the top 20 shows of the week with last week’s episode, The Stinsons. The ratings dropped around 3m this week, but that was to be expected due to the return of Dancing with the Stars in the same timeslot on FOX.

In the final of the March Madness Steel Cage competition mentioned in the last post, Barney is losing to Supernatural’s Dean Winchester by 500 votes. You’ve only got a few hours left to vote, so please do!!
