Neil on Penguins of Madagascar & Adventure Time

By Rach | Published Tue Sep-6-11 -

Neil voiced a character named Prince Gumball in this week’s episode of Adventure Time With Finn & Jake - Adventure Time with Fionna and Cake, following the preview that aired at this year’s San Diego Comic Con.

How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris lends his voice to a special episode of Cartoon Network’s hit animated series Adventure Time. Neil Patrick Harris stars as Prince Gumball in Adventure Time with Fionna and Cake, a gender-swapping, parallel universe episode featuring the female “Fionna” and her cat “Cake.”

The episode premieres Monday, Sept. 5 at 8 p.m. (ET/PT). No appearance by Neil Patrick Harris would be complete with out a song.

Adventure Time introduces viewers to unlikely heroes Finn and Jake, buddies who traverse the mystical Land of Ooo and encounter its colorful inhabitants. The best of friends, our heroes always find themselves in the middle of heart-pounding escapades. Finn, a silly boy with an awesome hat and Jake, a brassy dog with a big kind heart, depend on each other through thick and thin.

He’ll also return to Nickelodeon’s Penguins of Madagascar as Dr Blowhole this Friday, September 9 at 8pm ET/PT in Penguins of Madagascar: Blowhole Strikes Back!

Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother) returns as the title characters’ sinister nemesis, Dr. Blowhole, in Nickelodeon’s brand-new Penguins of Madagascar special, “Blowhole Strikes Back,” premiering Friday, Sept. 9, at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT). The hour-long special features Harris performing in four original musical numbers, two of which he is singing alongside The Penguins of Madagascar characters. The series recently garnered six Daytime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Children’s Animated Program, Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program (Danny Jacobs) and Outstanding Writing in Animation. Year to date, The Penguins of Madagascar ranks as one of the top five animated series on all TV with kids 2-11.*

“Our viewers loved Dr. Blowhole in the first special, so we were excited to bring the character back and work with the very talented Neil Patrick Harris again,” said Brown Johnson, President, Animation, Nickelodeon. “In this second special, he has expanded his role with unforgettable vocal performances, including a stand-out power ballad.”

NPH sees life “Through A Dog’s Eyes”

By Rach | Published Thu Mar-4-10 -

The Associated Press reports that Neil has recorded the narration for a PBS film focussing on service dogs.

Neil Patrick Harris is the narrator of a PBS documentary exploring the bond between service dogs and those they help.

Harris recorded the narration this week for “Through a Dog’s Eyes,” which is set to air next month.

The film details how dogs learn to serve people with disabilities and how animals and humans are paired. An Iraqi veteran who became a quadriplegic after a car accident and a 6-year-old with cerebral palsy are among those featured in the film.

The “How I Met Your Mother” star says he was impressed by the strong emotional connection between the service animals and those who rely on them. He owns two dogs.

The film “Through A Dog’s Eyes” will air on PBS stations on April 21st.

NPH & Felicia Day rock the dead

By Rach | Published Wed Feb-10-10 -

IGN has a first look at Rock of the Dead,Β a new Wii game from Epicenter, and it features voice work from Neil, with Felicia Day as his love interest for the game. According to their report, the game is similar to Typing of the Dead, in which zombies are killed using a QWERTY keyboard, but instead you use a Guitar controller (Guitar Hero/Rock Band controller compatible)Β to strum the bad guys to death.

The game doesn’t feature licensed music in the same vein as Rock Band or Guitar Hero, but it’s definitely music-focused. The team commissioned bands to create “rock” versions of classical music (Public domain, anyone?) and they sound pretty good as a backdrop to the action. According to Epicenter, the team has licensed Rob Zombie/White Zombie tracks for appropriate parts of the action. And I can’t forget to mention that the team commissioned the assistance of Neil Patrick Harris himself for the character lead in Rock of the Dead, who provides the cheesy outer-monologue and one-liners. Felicia Day’s the love interest here (Neil’s partner in crime in Dr. Horrible’s Sing-a-Long), and the game’s script was handled by the writer of The Witcher.

Neil lends voice to new Batman DVD

By Rach | Published Wed Feb-10-10 -

According to the Los Angeles Times, Neil will be voicing Nightwing in Batman: Under the Red Hood. The story also stars Bruce Greenwood as Batman and Supernatural‘s Jensen Ackles as Red Hood.

Plenty of of fanboys are anticipating the new Justice League DVD “Crisis on Two Earths,” which premieres on Feb. 23, but thatΒ disc will also give birth to a new DC must-see home movie when the Dark Knight saga “Batman: Under the Red Hood” launches one of its first promos.

Written by Judd Winick and based on his 2005 Batman comics story line, it’s Batman versus another vigilante, Red Hood, who doesn’t mind cleaning up Gotham by leaving dead bodies in his wake. Animated guru Bruce Timm exec produces thisΒ pretty violent look into crime on the streets, and it’s directed by “Superman Doomsday” co-director Brandon Vietti, with a cavalcade of stars as voice talent. It all starts with Bruce Greenwood (“Star Trek”) as Batman, then continues with “Supernatural” star Jensen Ackles as Red Hood, Neil Patrick Harris (“How I Met Your Mother”) as Nightwing, John DiMaggio (“Futurama”) as the Joker and Jason Isaacs (the Harry Potter films) as Ra’s Al Ghul.

Neil Patrick Harris lends voice to ‘The Penguins of Madagascar’

By Rach | Published Wed Jan-20-10 -

Neil has recorded a part in Nickelodeon’s hit series, The Penguins of Madagascar. He will voice the character of Dr Blowhole, a “malevolent dolphin who also happens to be the penguins’ longtime nemesis”.

The Penguins of Madagascar is a spin off of the hit film, Madagascar. Neil’s episode will air on Nickelodeon, Feb 15th at 8pm, and is the show’sΒ first Nickelodeon special.

“The Penguins of Madagascar has been a huge success in transferring from film to television,” said Brown Johnson, President, Animation, Nickelodeon and MTVN Kids and Family Group. Β ”We’re thrilled to give fans this fantastic TV special featuring the multi-talented Neil Patrick Harris as a hilariously disgruntled dolphin.”

In “Dr. Blowhole’s Revenge,” Dr. Blowhole, tired of the penguins foiling his plans to rule land and sea, has returned to annihilate the band of brothers so he may take over the world once and for all. Β The first step in his plan is to kidnap King Julien, who Dr. Blowhole mistakenly thinks is Skipper’s best friend. Β The penguins set off to rescue their annoying lemur neighbor, only to find they have waddled right into a shocking double-cross. Β Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private must escape the trap and save the planet before Dr. Blowhole succeeds in flooding the Earth’s surface in an effort to wipe out the existence of all land mammals.
