Neil on Penguins of Madagascar & Adventure Time

By Rach | Published Tue Sep-6-11 -

Neil voiced a character named Prince Gumball in this week’s episode of Adventure Time With Finn & Jake - Adventure Time with Fionna and Cake, following the preview that aired at this year’s San Diego Comic Con.

How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris lends his voice to a special episode of Cartoon Network’s hit animated series Adventure Time. Neil Patrick Harris stars as Prince Gumball in Adventure Time with Fionna and Cake, a gender-swapping, parallel universe episode featuring the female “Fionna” and her cat “Cake.”

The episode premieres Monday, Sept. 5 at 8 p.m. (ET/PT). No appearance by Neil Patrick Harris would be complete with out a song.

Adventure Time introduces viewers to unlikely heroes Finn and Jake, buddies who traverse the mystical Land of Ooo and encounter its colorful inhabitants. The best of friends, our heroes always find themselves in the middle of heart-pounding escapades. Finn, a silly boy with an awesome hat and Jake, a brassy dog with a big kind heart, depend on each other through thick and thin.

He’ll also return to Nickelodeon’s Penguins of Madagascar as Dr Blowhole this Friday, September 9 at 8pm ET/PT in Penguins of Madagascar: Blowhole Strikes Back!

Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother) returns as the title characters’ sinister nemesis, Dr. Blowhole, in Nickelodeon’s brand-new Penguins of Madagascar special, “Blowhole Strikes Back,” premiering Friday, Sept. 9, at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT). The hour-long special features Harris performing in four original musical numbers, two of which he is singing alongside The Penguins of Madagascar characters. The series recently garnered six Daytime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Children’s Animated Program, Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program (Danny Jacobs) and Outstanding Writing in Animation. Year to date, The Penguins of Madagascar ranks as one of the top five animated series on all TV with kids 2-11.*

“Our viewers loved Dr. Blowhole in the first special, so we were excited to bring the character back and work with the very talented Neil Patrick Harris again,” said Brown Johnson, President, Animation, Nickelodeon. “In this second special, he has expanded his role with unforgettable vocal performances, including a stand-out power ballad.”

Finally, Neil and Cobie talked to TVLine about season seven for Robin and Barney (beware of some spoilers) here. How I Met Your Mother returns to CBS on September 19 at 8/7c and a second brand new episode airs right after at 8.30/7.30c.

Rock of the Dead creator interview

By Rach | Published Wed Sep-22-10 -

GameRant.com have published an interview with Bryan Jury, creator of Rock of the Dead. He had some interesting things to say about securing Neil and Felicia Day as voice talent for the game.

GR: Felicia Day and Neil Patrick Harris are akin to gods within the geek world. How did you get the opportunity to work with them and was it a good experience?
Bryan Jury: If it’s not completely apparent with their casting, we’re HUGE Dr. Horrible fans. I’m an absolute nerd when it comes to Joss Whedon in general. We’re a pretty small independent studio, but we’ve been able to work with some pretty good voice talent in our games. Our last game, Real Heroes: Firefighter, has James Marsters, Jaime Kennedy and Jenette Goldstein (Vazquez from Aliens) among others. I often get asked how we end up getting these people in our games, and the answer is pretty simple: we pick up the phone and ask! We might get some people who aren’t interested, but most are really intrigued.

With Neil and Felicia, we got a lot of hesitation at first as they are both often inundated with similar offers. But after we sent over descriptions of their characters and how the game works, they signed on pretty much right away. I had the honor of directing their recording sessions, so I got to ask them why they agreed so quickly, and both of them said the concept just really interested them. Felicia actually has a regular Rock Band night at her house, so this was right up her alley.

Both of them were absolutely fantastic to work with. They’re both so talented and professional with what they do, they were some of the easiest sessions I’ve gotten to direct. I did have an awkward moment with each of them though. I hadn’t told them prior to their recording sessions that the other was in the game. I honestly wasn’t sure if they would think a mini Dr. Horrible reunion was going to be a good idea or not. But after I sheepishly brought it up, they both got a big kick out of it, so that was a relief!

Rock of the Dead is released on Wii, PS3 and X-Box in October.

In non-zombie related news, Neil and the HIMYM cast appeared on a few shows on Monday to promote both season six and also the earlier seasons starting to air in syndication – you can watch Neil & Jason on Good Day NYΒ and Neil, Josh, Cobie and Alyson on Entertainment Tonight.

Neil talks HIMYM season 6 to eonline

By Rach | Published Mon Sep-20-10 -

Watch With Kristin talked to Neil at CBS’s fall premiere party about what’s coming up on the show.

Neil Patrick Harris is probably teasing us when he says that Jennifer Morrison’s new character on How I Met Your Mother is a villain. Probably, but not definitely…

NPH teases that Morrison’s character’s “contentious” relationship with Ted (Josh Radnor) is what “makes the sex great.” Heck, maybe Morrison is both the mother and a villain.

Press play above for more from NPH on season six of HIMYM, including news about guest stars, some eyebrow-waggling innuendo (our favorite kind) and a little chit-chat about Marshall (Jason Segel) and Lily’s (Alyson Hannigan) mission for the season!

HIMYM season six premieres tonight at 8/7c on CBS.

New Hollywood Reporter interview with Neil

By Rach | Published Fri Aug-20-10 -

The Hollywood Reporter talked to Neil in the last few days, and published a nice interview with him yesterday. They talk a little about the twins, Glee, HIMYM and the Emmys, amongst other things.

The Hollywood Reporter: With projects in film, TV and on the stage, you’ve had a very industrious year. How does it feel to double your career Emmy nominations in one fell swoop?
Harris: I have three times as much of a chance to lose, so I’m very excited. It’s been a busy year, but I’m happy to be riding the “Glee” train. In a normal world, I would not be able to do half the things I did this year, but for some reason everything fit in like a weird game of Tetris.

THR: Besides the recent news that you and your partner David Burtka are expecting twins in the fall, what other plans do you have for staying busy? Perhaps a return to “Glee”?
Harris: We just started shooting Season 6 of “Mother,” so my focus is on that well-tailored suit of a role. Barney is on a quest to find his real dad. Which I think may give us some answers as to why Barney is the way he is. As for “Glee,” Ryan Murphy mentioned something at the TCA, but I’ve heard nothing concrete about it. It’s great what “Glee” is able to do each week. It was a really exhausting episode to film, but fun too.

THR: So there’s no truth to the rumors that you may be taking a break from Hollywood?
Harris: No, not at all. It’s a virtual impossibility at the moment. I have two more seasons for sure on “Mother” and a bunch of things pending or already in the can. I love the business and have worked steadily to stand where I am. I have no interest in backing off now.

Teasers for HIMYM Season 6

By Hilary | Published Thu Jul-29-10 -

How I Met Your Mother returns to CBS on 20th September. Alan Sepinwall has posted a lengthy transcript of a conversation with show creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas which looks back at some of season five’s missteps, and ahead to what we can expect in season six (hint: probably not the identity of the Mother).

As Sepinwall states in his introduction, spoilers for S6 are vague but read ahead at your own risk.

“HIMYM creators promise a return to emotion and romance.”
