More voting opportunities!

By Rach | Published Sun Feb-13-11 -

iVillage have extended their voting period through February 21st, so keep your votes coming in for Neil in their “Gay Man We Wish Could Be Our Boyfriend” category. He’s currently leading in the category, with 44% of the votes, while Ricky Martin is second on 37%. Winners will be announced on February 22nd.

The nominees for the 2011 Logo NewNowNext awards have been announced. Now in its fourth year, this influential awards show will not look at the year that passed, but will instead focus on what is up-and-coming in popular culture in 2011 and beyond. The Smurfs has been nominated in the “Next Must-See Movie” category. It’s a tough category, up against the final Harry Potter movie and X-Men: First Class amongst other things, so every vote helps! You can vote at the site, or on Twitter – every tweet including the hashtag #MOVIESmurfs counts as a vote, including retweets. Use #NNNAwards as the official hashtag for the ceremony.

Voting is open until Friday March 4th, and winners will be announced on the NewNowNext Awards on Monday, April 11th at 10/9c on Logo. The Smurfs is released in the US and UK on August 3rd 2011.

Write Neil Patrick Harris’s Emmy presenter intro!

By Rach | Published Thu Aug-26-10 -

When Neil hosted the Emmy Awards last year, John Hodgman was enlisted to introduce the winners up to the stage, using “less than credible” facts. This year’s gimmick is for host Jimmy Fallon to introduce the presenters for some of the awards using messages sent in on Twitter.

For example, Fallon said, he’ll announce the chosen tweet, user name included: “(At)blahblahblah says Jon Hamm is the hottest guy of all time. Here he is, Jon Hamm,” NBC’s “Late Night” host riffed.

To submit a message, visit nbc.com/emmys/imontheemmys and sign into your Twitter account. Be sure to include the #imontheemmys hashtag for your tweet to be considered for use during Sunday’s show. Other celebs you can help to introduce include Neil’s Dr Horrible co-star Nathan Fillion, Glee’s Matthew Morrison, and Sofia Vergara, who plays Neil’s boss in the upcoming Smurfs movie.

The Huffington Post has pictures of the seating arrangements for Sunday, where we can see that Neil’s seat is front row.

Interviews old and new

By Rach | Published Sun Jul-4-10 -

First of all, TV Squad caught up with Neil while he was doing his Smurfs press a few weeks ago. They cover everything from Harold & Kumar to Glee and Doctor Horrible, so check it out here.

Is there going to be a third ‘Harold and Kumar’ movie?
They started filming already. It’s called ‘A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas.’ It’s in 3-D, and they’re filming in Detroit. I’m not dead in the third one.

How are you going to explain that?
You saw me get shot [in the last movie], and at the end of the credits I arose, so I was clearly not dead. All may or probably won’t be explained. There’s a new director on board, and he’s great. We’re doing a giant holiday TV special Christmas medley that I help [out on], so there may be singing and dancing in ‘Harold and Kumar.’ He’s very enthusiastic towards Busby Berkeley.

You have so many different projects going on now.
I’m just so amazed and lucky that things keep slotting in as they do. Things have been very fortunate the last couple of years, to an extreme, but if this movie ['Smurfs'] were happening a month later, I wouldn’t have been able to do it because it would have overlapped with ‘How I Met Your Mother,’ and if this movie had gone on another week I wouldn’t have been able to do ‘Harold and Kumar’ because I had to slot that in. It’s all been circumstantial and wonderful.

And Out.com caught up with Neil not long after last year’s Emmys, in this interview that we haven’t linked here before.

Neil Patrick Harris Confirmed For β€˜Harold and Kumar 3

By Rach | Published Wed Jun-23-10 -

Check out the full article here for a few snippets on Glee, Dr Horrible and his return to H&K, and expect a few articles to pop up over the next week or so as it seems it was press day at the Smurfs this week, with Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello also stopping by the set on Tuesday.
