Neil Patrick Harris Confirmed For ‘Harold and Kumar 3
06.23.10

While his return was never really in doubt (would they dare make an H&K movie without NPH?!), Hollywood.com has confirmed that Neil will be returning in A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas, due in Theaters Christmas 2011. Check out the full article here for a few snippets on Glee, Dr Horrible and his return to H&K, and expect a few articles to pop up over the next week or so as it seems it was press day at the Smurfs this week, with Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello also stopping by the set on Tuesday.

“Beastly” release date change
06.07.10

CBS Films have confirmed that Beastly is moving from a release date of July 30 this year, to March 18, 2011. It was moved from the original release date in order to avoid a clash with Zac Efron’s new movie, Charlie St Cloud – the reason given being that “we’ve been hearing from fans, so we know that having both Zac and Vanessa’s movies opening on the same day could be a real dilemma for people.”

Expect new trailers or featurettes to be announced in the coming months to keep up the publicity momentum they’ve already gathered.

First trailer for “Rio”
05.21.10

Moviefone has released the first trailer for the upcoming animated feature, Rio, starring Neil Patrick Harris and Anne Hathaway. You can view it here. The Fox movie is due for release “some time in 2011″.

ETA: Thanks to Pikka for pointing out that Neil is no longer listed by IMDB as part of the project, and his voice isn’t in the trailer. We’ll keep you updated if we get confirmation either way, but at the moment it looks like Neil’s super-packed schedule has left him unable to participate in this one!

Neil defends Vanessa Hudgens casting
04.13.10

OnTheRedCarpet.com caught up with Neil in a short video interview at the Academy of Magical Arts awards on Sunday.

Actor Neil Patrick Harris is directing a special production of Rent at the Hollywood Bowl this summer. He’s no stranger to the stage or the show, (he played Mark Cohen in the 2nd National Tour), but he’s taken some flak recently for casting High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens for the lead role of Mimi.

On The Red Carpet caught up with Harris, who defended his decision, “Vanessa is awesome. She’s a friend. I asked her to come in and sing to make sure she had the chops for it. And she was very committed and seemed great.”

io9.com reports that the sequel to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is now in development; no official word on if Neil will return as Steve the Monkey just yet.

Neil’s episode of Celebrity Jeopardy, in which he competes against CSI New York’s Hill Harper and former basketball player Rebecca Lobo, will air this coming Thursday, April 15th at 7pm PST on ABC-TV. Visit the show’s website for a short video interview with him. Neil was playing on behalf of Food on Foot.

Finally, NYMag’s Vulture section has read the script for A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas. Mild plot spoilers are in the article, so if you don’t want to know, suffice it to say that the script confirms that Neil has a part to play.

Neil Patrick Harris Dishes on “Beastly”
04.07.10

MTV.com have followed up their interviews with Vanessa Hudgens and Alex Pettyfer with an interview with Neil from the ShoWest event a few weeks ago. He talks about the plot, his role, and what he thinks of the finished movie.

“Alex’s character gets a hex put on him that turns him physically ugly, and he has [to learn] what true beauty is, because he’s kind of a douche,” Harris explained as only he could. “His dad holds him up in an apartment, and I’m the tutor that’s hired to teach him things, and I’m blind. Therefore, I can’t see his deformities.

“I have a kinship with him, because I also have a physical disability that I have to go beyond,” the star said of his first dramatic role in nearly half a decade. “So I teach him a thing or two.

“This is a very classy movie, actually,” he promised. “It looks great. I think the performances are strong. I think it’s better than your average teen film.

Neil Patrick Harris talks “Rent” and “Glee”.
03.21.10

While in Vegas for the CBS Films Luncheon at ShoWest (a film/cinema distribution trade show), Neil talked to Tony Potts from Access Hollywood about his directing future and his work on Glee, as well as a little playing a blind man about Beastly, the movie Neil was there to promote. We’ve got a bunch of photos from the event, featuring Neil, Vanessa Hudgens and Alex Pettyfer, in our gallery.

Dracula’s Daughter’s Vs. The Space Brains had its world premiere at the Cleveland International Film Festival on Friday, and by all accounts was a massive success! Clevescene talks to director Frank Ippolito ahead of the premiere and had this to say of Neil’s casting:

Casting Harris, whom he knew through the magician Teller (the subject of the Teller shorts) wasn’t difficult. “He likes quirky things,” Ippolito says of Harris. “Most of the stuff I see him do is a little weird so he thought it was cool. It wasn’t a struggle to get him to say yes.”

Glee, Celebrity Jeopardy, Harold & Kumar 3
03.15.10

I’ve added a Glee page to the television appearances section of the site. More and more spoilers for Neil’s Glee appearance are being released, but I understand that a lot of people might want to remain as unspoiled as possible. So we’ll update all Glee spoilers here, to give you the choice of reading it or not. We’ll continue to let you know here when that page has been updated, though.

Neil recorded an episode of Celebrity Jeopardy late last week, competing against CSI New York’s Hill Harper and former basketball player Rebecca Lobo. We’ll keep you updated with when that will air.

John Cho talked with Collider about the in-development third movie in the Harold & Kumar series:

The good news for fans of the Harold and Kumar series is the sequel is still moving forward and Cho said the plan is to film this June!  He said they’re currently figuring out who will direct the third installment and Neil Patrick Harris is supposed to be in it.  He said the film picks up a few years after the second film and it’s a legitimate holiday movie.

Finally, if you didn’t managed to view the Oscars opening before it was removed from the Oscars website, you can view it officially on YouTube, or PopSugar.

Neil Patrick Harris to star in Smurfs movie
03.03.10

Nikki Finke has just broken the news that Neil will be starring in the new Smurfs movie. Directed by Raja Gosnell (Never Been Kissed, Scooby-Doo), the movie will be an animation/live-action hybrid, and Neil will be playing the movie’s lead “human” character.

Filming begins in April, while HIMYM is on summer hiatus.
