On October 10th Neil appeared at Joseph Gordon Levitt’s HitRECord Fall Formal. There are a number of videos on hitrecord.org – for example here and here – as this show was “an evening of vivacious live performance, sensational cinema & collaborative recording”, the audience were encouraged to record and so there are a lot of different versions/angles to watch. The clearest one I’ve found is here (though you might want to turn down your volume or cover your ears for until the sketch actually starts!) and there’s also a statement here that’s interesting to read after watching the skit.

Cinemax went on the set of the new Harold & Kumar movie and there’s some interview clips with Neil as well as John Cho and Kal Penn in their behind the scenes video. A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas is released across the USA on November 4, and we are very pleased to welcome John-Cho Fan and Kal Penn Fan to our affiliates.

Neil is on the cover of this week’s Entertainment Weekly and has written their cover story – his own Hollywood Survival guide. The issue is on stands September 23.

Is there anything Neil Patrick Harris can’t do? He acts! He rocks jokes! He sings! He dances! He acts! He hosts! He performs magic! And now let’s add yet another talent to that list: He writes a damn good cover story! EW learned this firsthand — and you will too — when you open this week’s issue. We placed a pencil in the 38-year-old actor’s mouth hand and asked him to pen his version of a Hollywood Survival Guide, which details everything from the highs and lows of teen stardom, thanks to his role as a precocious doctor on Doogie Howser, M.D., to the joy of finding unexpected success as legendary bachelor Barney Stinson on CBS’ How I Met Your Mother. NPH also offers some sage advice on navigating interviews (reveal your personal life, not your private life) and how to act on a set (“Never be a d-bag to the crew”).

Important news first – as you may have seen on our Twitter, or various other places around the web, Neil has joined the Tweeting masses. He’s @ActuallyNPH, and his account has been verified by Felicia Day, CBS, and is now an officially verified account. He’s been on Twitter for less than 12 hours, and already has over 40,000 followers!

On to other news, Neil has been added to the list of presenters for the CNN Heroes event. He will join Carrie Underwood, Leona Lewis, Nicole Kidman and many others for the “Heroes” event, which will be hosted by Anderson Cooper and broadcast on Thanksgiving night (November26th). Finally, the photoshoot that Neil, Josh and Jason were doing for Playboy will be in the US December edition. You can see a couple of the pictures on this blog.

The 2010 Oscars will in fact be co-hosted by Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, the Academy has announced.

Neil will be featured in the December/January issue of Out magazine, as part of the 2009 Out 100. The magazine will be in stores mid-November.

Neil talks with Entertainment Weekly about his guest judging stint on American Idol. He reveals as part of the interview that he, Josh and Jason have just completed a photoshoot for an upcoming issue of Playboy. It’s to coincide with the launch of the show, so it’s quite possibly the October issue, due out in late Sept.

In addition to his appearance on next Friday (Sept 4th)’s Letterman, Neil will also be checking in with Craig Ferguson on Septmeber 8th.

Finally, Neil is supporting the Get Schooled campaign. “Get Schooled is a national platform that connects, inspires and mobilizes people – from policymakers and corporate leaders to communities and kids – to find effective solutions to the problems facing our education system. He is also once again supporting the What Book Got You Hooked? campaign. Now through September 30, readers everywhere are invited to share the first book that made reading fun for them and then help get more kids hooked by voting for the state to receive 50,000 new books for low-income youth.

Neil is on the cover of this month’s CBS Watch Magazine. It features a lengthy interview with Neil and David as they travelled around Europe earlier this year, and a lovely photoshoot to go with it.
