The Tonys & Beastly

Neil’s night at the Tony Awards is over and while the reports start to flow in, we’ve added arrivals and show pictures to the gallery, and you can see Neil’s big closing number on YouTube – and be sure to keep an eye on our YouTube Channel as we’ll be adding more videos to our playlists as and when they become available.

And a quick update on Neil’s role in Beastly – the Hollywood Reporter has run a piece the two films Neil’s shooting this summer, and it elaborates that he’ll be playing “a blind tutor who helps and bonds with a teen (Alex Pettyfer) who is shellshocked from being turned into a hideous young man”.

More on the Harris/Burtka Art Exhibition

“Careful,” he warns when several women move to check out his bookshelves. “One of those cabinets is full of porn.”

A few words on Neil Patrick Harris’ office: Best. Office. Ever. Dark and spooky but kinda silly. It contains an original 1968 plaque from Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion, and a Medusa-head lenticular “changing portrait” from the same. A bride doll with a beating red heart glows on the floor.

Neil was at the CBS Upfront presentation in New York yesterday. There are some photos in the gallery, and you can read about his part of the presentation in this article.

Harold & Kumar 3

According to Variety, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg “will return to write and direct a third installment for Mandate Pictures.” Warner Bros have confirmed a November 5, 2010 release date for “A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas”, with John Cho, Kal Penn and Neil Patrick Harris all expected to reprise their roles. More details as they become available!

Along with his co-stars Jason Segel and Josh Radnor and other stars including Jack Black and Gavin DeGraw, Neil has recorded a video message that you can send as an e-card this Mothers’ Day, in association with the Noreen Fraser Foundation for cancer research.

Hot on the heels of the free chocolate giveaway yesterday, the Mars Real Chocolate Relief Act have released an ad on YouTube – you can check out “Neil Patrick Harris and Mars Make America Awesome (Again)” here.

We’ve also had a few new additions to the gallery in the last few days, with pics from the Mars event, the Star Trek premiere and Neil backstage at Rock of Ages.

TV Appearances & Gallery Update

The gallery has been updated with 118 photos from last night’s TV Land Awards. The TV Land Awards air on TV Land this Sunday, April 26th at 8pm ET/PT. An eonline article reveals that Neil only just avoided serious injury when his tuxedo caught fire during a run through!

Neil’s appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon has been moved from Wednesday to Friday; he will now appear alongside Bones star Emily Deschanel. You can also catch him on CBS’s The Early Show on Wednesday morning.

Another news roundup

First a couple of little bits you’ll have seen if you’re following our Twitter account; you can vote for Neil (and a couple of other HIMYM nominees) at the TV IV Awards. Neil’s up for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series and is currently leading, ahead of 30 Rock’s Alec Baldwin, but it’s close at the moment!

Secondly, somebody at CBS has produced a montage video of Barney and Robin moments to promote the next new episode (“The Goat” reruns tonight; “Mosbius Designs” airs next Monday). The YouTube version is only viewable in the US, but lucky for us, CBS sent the video to HIMYM blog have-you-met-ted.com and you can view it here.

Finally, but most importantly, Neil attended Bravo’s A-List Awards last night. We’ve added a few pictures to the gallery of him receiving his award (as well as a few new photos from the Streamys) for “A-List Actor”! He won the “A-List Actor” category, having been nominated alongside David Duchovny, Jon Hamm, Julian McMahon and Hugh Laurie. The Bravo A-List Awards air on Bravo next Wednesday (April 15th) at 10/9c.

Streamy Awards results

The 1st Annual Streamy Awards took place last night, and Dr Horrible truly swept the board! There are some arrivals photos in the gallery, and you can watch interviews here at the 12seconds site. The awards won included Joss Whedon for Best Directing in a Comedy Web Series, the Whedon clan for Best Writing in a Comedy Web Series, Dr Horrible itself for Best Cinematography, Best Original Music, Best Editing in a Comedy Web Series and also the all important Audience Choice Award, but most importantly – Neil won Best Actor in a Comedy Web Series. Felicia Day’s series The Guild also won a number of awards, well done Felicia!

The ceremony was available to watch live on the Streamy’s site, and though at the moment there’s no way to watch it now that it’s happened, we’re sure it’llbe put up later for public viewing.

Lots of bits and pieces added to the gallery! Caps from the second and third featurettes on the Dr Horrible DVD, caps from this week’s HIMYM episode, the World Magic Awards from October, and some shots of Neil in the audience of American Idol on the first and second weeks of top 36 eliminations. There’s also arrivals photos from the Academy of Magical Arts awards, Neil & David watching the LA Lakers, the original versions of the Saturday Night Live transition cards, and Neil arriving at the opening night of the Rent National Tour’s LA stop. So lots for you to check out!

In other news – CBS has ordered four HIMYM scripts for the 2009-2010 season. According to TV Week, “the early order is designed to give producers a head start on planning the show’s fifth year. While technically not the same as an early renewal, the script order makes it a virtual certainty that “HIMYM” will be back next fall”. HIMYM has been performing impressively in the ratings this year, and made the top 20 shows of the week with last week’s episode, The Stinsons. The ratings dropped around 3m this week, but that was to be expected due to the return of Dancing with the Stars in the same timeslot on FOX.

In the final of the March Madness Steel Cage competition mentioned in the last post, Barney is losing to Supernatural‘s Dean Winchester by 500 votes. You’ve only got a few hours left to vote, so please do!!

Neil attended the opening night of the LA stop of Rent’s National Tour at the Pantages Theatre on Friday night, and we’ve added pictures to the gallery. Rent runs in LA until March 8th and stars original Broadway cast members Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp.

Other news – Neil was in the American Idol audience again last night – caps from last week and last night to come as soon as I get a chance to sort them out! He’ll also be appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres Show next Monday (March 2nd), presumably to talk about the Academy of Magic Awards which he’ll be hosting and co-producing a week on Sunday.

Neil’s Magic Newswire interview is now live, and you can listen to it here. From that page you can stream it, download the MP3, subscribe via iTunes or a number of other ways to download. It lasts for almost an hour and covers a load of different topics, so it’s well worth a listen!

More from Thursday night’s Global Green party, ETonline have a video which inteviews various people including Neil, and Wireimage video also has a couple, which have been posted up on Church of NPH. There’s also a gallery update with a stack of new photos from that event.

Finally, Neil’s been nominated in Bravo’s A-List awards, in the A-List TV Actor category. He’s up against David Duchovny, Jon Hamm, Julian McMahon and Hugh Laurie. It’s a public vote awards, so get over there and vote for him!
