LA Times & Smurf promo interviews

By Rach | Published Thu Jul-14-11 -

Neil recently participated in a twenty five minute webcam chat with the LA Times’ Tom O’Neil, where they talk about the Emmys, the Tonys, and How I Met Your Mother. You can watch the whole thing here. The chat was recorded before nominations for this year’s Emmy awards were announced this morning, and sadly this year Neil missed out on being nominated for HIMYM.

He also sat down talked to CinemaBlend about the next installment of Harold & Kumar, and joined Jayma Mays to talk to Access Hollywood to talk about the upcoming Smurfs movie, his hosting duties, and the twins amongst other things. ETOnline have a video interview with Neil and Jayma as well as some footage of Sofia Vergara talking about working with Neil.

And finally, Neil has joined CoasterRadio.com as their new voiceover artist! Check that out here.

Fashion’s Night Out 2010

By Rach | Published Wed Sep-1-10 -

Neil is set to host a one-hour fashion special on CBS, Tuesday September 14, 10/9c. The special will focus on year two of Fashion’s Night Out, including “Fashion’s Night Out: The Show”, taking place on September 7, and the Fashion’s Night Out event itself, taking place in New York on September 10th.

Oscar de la Renta, Diane Von Furstenberg, Justin Timberlake, Tory Burch and Anna Wintour will be among the many fashion industry stars featured in FASHION’S NIGHT OUT 2010, a one-hour primetime special that takes viewers behind the scenes of the world’s largest fashion celebration, to be broadcast Tuesday, Sept. 14 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.Β  The special will be hosted by Emmy Award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris, star of the CBS comedy series, β€œHow I Met Your Mother.”

Looking beyond the glamour to the real-life implications at stake, the show will also focus on individuals working in all parts of the industry for whom the vibrancy of the fashion business is a question of economic survival β€” from Wintour’s initial meetings in Paris with her international editors to discuss plans for this year’s event to interviews with sales managers at the Gap about how Fashion’s Night Out benefits the retail industry.

For more information on Fashion’s Night Out 2010, visit their official site at cbs.com/specials/fashions_night_out.

Looking back at the Emmys, a number of websites/networks interviewed Neil on the red carpet – Ryan Seacrest for E!, Access Hollywood, NBC, Entertainemnt Weekly and TV Guide.

Final point for tonight, something which you might already have noticed – we’ve given the site a redesign!

Write Neil Patrick Harris’s Emmy presenter intro!

By Rach | Published Thu Aug-26-10 -

When Neil hosted the Emmy Awards last year, John Hodgman was enlisted to introduce the winners up to the stage, using “less than credible” facts. This year’s gimmick is for host Jimmy Fallon to introduce the presenters for some of the awards using messages sent in on Twitter.

For example, Fallon said, he’ll announce the chosen tweet, user name included: “(At)blahblahblah says Jon Hamm is the hottest guy of all time. Here he is, Jon Hamm,” NBC’s “Late Night” host riffed.

To submit a message, visit nbc.com/emmys/imontheemmys and sign into your Twitter account. Be sure to include the #imontheemmys hashtag for your tweet to be considered for use during Sunday’s show. Other celebs you can help to introduce include Neil’s Dr Horrible co-star Nathan Fillion, Glee’s Matthew Morrison, and Sofia Vergara, who plays Neil’s boss in the upcoming Smurfs movie.

The Huffington Post has pictures of the seating arrangements for Sunday, where we can see that Neil’s seat is front row.

It was announced today that Neil, along with fellow winners from last weekend Betty White, Jeff Probst and John Lithgow will be part of the Emmy ceremony on Sunday. According to HitFix, it’s currently “unclear if Harris, White, Probst and Lithgow will be performers or if they’ll serve some other capacity in Sunday’s Jimmy Fallon-hosted telecast, but their involvement was announced on Wednesday morning at the official unrolling of the Emmy red carpet at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theater.”

There’s video (again, more are expected to materialize over the next few days) from the Press Room, at the LA Times.

In non-Emmy news, there’s a short snippet of an interview with Neil where he talks about the “gypsy” nature of acting, at Hollywood Outbreak.

New Hollywood Reporter interview with Neil

By Rach | Published Fri Aug-20-10 -

The Hollywood Reporter talked to Neil in the last few days, and published a nice interview with him yesterday. They talk a little about the twins, Glee, HIMYM and the Emmys, amongst other things.

The Hollywood Reporter: With projects in film, TV and on the stage, you’ve had a very industrious year. How does it feel to double your career Emmy nominations in one fell swoop?
Harris: I have three times as much of a chance to lose, so I’m very excited. It’s been a busy year, but I’m happy to be riding the “Glee” train. In a normal world, I would not be able to do half the things I did this year, but for some reason everything fit in like a weird game of Tetris.

THR: Besides the recent news that you and your partner David Burtka are expecting twins in the fall, what other plans do you have for staying busy? Perhaps a return to “Glee”?
Harris: We just started shooting Season 6 of “Mother,” so my focus is on that well-tailored suit of a role. Barney is on a quest to find his real dad. Which I think may give us some answers as to why Barney is the way he is. As for “Glee,” Ryan Murphy mentioned something at the TCA, but I’ve heard nothing concrete about it. It’s great what “Glee” is able to do each week. It was a really exhausting episode to film, but fun too.

THR: So there’s no truth to the rumors that you may be taking a break from Hollywood?
Harris: No, not at all. It’s a virtual impossibility at the moment. I have two more seasons for sure on “Mother” and a bunch of things pending or already in the can. I love the business and have worked steadily to stand where I am. I have no interest in backing off now.

Third Emmy Nomination for NPH

By Hilary | Published Wed Aug-11-10 -

Neil has, of course, been nominated for his roles in How I Met Your Mother and Glee this year. However the LA Times noticed that Neil’s name had been omitted from Best Special Class Program, for hosting the Tony Awards last year. Award show hosts are grouped with the producers.

His name has now been added to the ballot. The awards air on August 29th.
