The 38th Annual People’s Choice Awards were held last night at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, and Neil took home the award for Favorite TV Comedy Actor! Watch his acceptance speech here:

Additionally, HIMYM took home the award for Favorite Network TV Comedy, and you can watch the cast accepting the award here. Katy Perry also won Favorite TV Guest Star for her role on HIMYM, so it was a good night for the show! You can see a full list of nominees and winners for the night here, which includes Neil’s Doctor Horrible co-star Nathan Fillion taking home the Favorite TV Drama Actor award for Castle.

Neil won “Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series” for his role as Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother at today’s first ever Critics’ Choice Television Awards ceremony. The ceremony was streamed live on VH1.com today, and will be broadcast on ReelzChannel this Wednesday, June 22nd.

Neil will be hosting the 65th Annual Tony Awards this coming Sunday, June 12th, and some details have started to emerge about the performances that can be expected on the night. Neil will be taking part in a performance from April’s limited run revival of Company ahead of its cinema release on June 15, and according to BroadwayWorld.com (the linked article contains detailed information about who will be performing what on the night, so if you prefer surprises, don’t click!) “a highly theatrical number performed by Neil Patrick Harris and created by David Javerbaum will open the telecast”.

Neil will be appearing on The View and The Late Show with David Letterman this Thursday to promote the show.

Finally, in non-Tonys news, Neil has been nominated in the first annual Critics’ Choice Awards in the Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category, for his role as Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother. The awards will air on ReelzChannel on June 22nd, and Variety has the full list of nominees.

iVillage have extended their voting period through February 21st, so keep your votes coming in for Neil in their “Gay Man We Wish Could Be Our Boyfriend” category. He’s currently leading in the category, with 44% of the votes, while Ricky Martin is second on 37%. Winners will be announced on February 22nd.

The nominees for the 2011 Logo NewNowNext awards have been announced. Now in its fourth year, this influential awards show will not look at the year that passed, but will instead focus on what is up-and-coming in popular culture in 2011 and beyond. The Smurfs has been nominated in the “Next Must-See Movie” category. It’s a tough category, up against the final Harry Potter movie and X-Men: First Class amongst other things, so every vote helps! You can vote at the site, or on Twitter – every tweet including the hashtag #MOVIESmurfs counts as a vote, including retweets. Use #NNNAwards as the official hashtag for the ceremony.

Voting is open until Friday March 4th, and winners will be announced on the NewNowNext Awards on Monday, April 11th at 10/9c on Logo. The Smurfs is released in the US and UK on August 3rd 2011.

As Neil is taking part in Sketchfest tonight and tomorrow, a couple of San Francisco-based publications have featured interviews with Neil in the last week. He talked to San Francisco Examiner:

The Emmy-winning actor is making three different festival appearances this weekend.

“I’m very excited about Dick Cavett-ing myself,” Harris says of one gig, “for a conversation with Brian Henson to talk all things Muppet — past, present, future. I’m a — you’ll pardon the pun — gonzo fan.”

What’s your vote for best picture of the year?
I haven’t seen True Grit yet, but I’m saying Black Swan. I really responded to it. Darren Aronofsky and Natalie Portman really did something special there.

CBS show The Talk is nominated for a GLAAD award in the Outstanding Talk Show Episode category, for the episode in which Neil did his first interview since the birth of the twins. GLAAD announce the winners at three separate ceremonies in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, and the awards are split between the three events. They will take place between March and May.

Voting for the second annual iVillage awards opens on Monday, and Neil is nominated for ‘Gay Man We Wish Could Be Our Boyfriend’! iVillage is the largest content-driven community for women on the web, owned by NBC Universal.

You can vote from January 24th until February 14th. Winners will be announced on February 21st. The voting page itself won’t go up until Monday, but you can view a sneak peak video for some of the other categories here.

Neil will be a guest the Ellen DeGeneres Show this coming Friday, January 14th. The show is syndicated so airs at different times and on different networks – you can check your local listings at the Ellen show site here.

Congratulations to Neil on winning Favourite TV Comedy Actor for his role in HIMYM. HIMYM itself was beaten by Glee in the Favourite TV Comedy category (so technically a win for Neil either way!) and he was beaten to the Favourite TV Guest Star award for his role in Glee, by Demi Lovato for her appearance on Grey’s Anatomy.
