Last year’s New York Philharmonic performance of Company – which was screened in US theaters last June – will finally be showing in the UK and Ireland on March 15. According to Playbill, “The high definition and surround-sound screenings will be followed by a live question-and-answer session with Neil Patrick Harris, who will talk about the enduring appeal of Sondheim’s work, and the experience of playing commitment-shy Robert. The interview with Harris will be conducted live from Los Angeles with live Twitter feed.” The cast also featured Patti LuPone, Katie Finneran, Christina Hendricks, Martha Plimpton and many others. Tickets will go on sale at www.sondheimscompany.com on February 3rd.

Company should be getting a DVD release sometime in the near future.

This week Neil talked to AccessHollywood, telling them that he would be happy to continue with HIMYM when his contract expires at the end of season 8, and that he’s not likely to be taking over from Ryan Seacrest as American Idol host. Watch him on Monday’s episode of The Talk here (or on YouTube if you’re outside the US) talking about HIMYM, David and the kids, and launching the new M&M character, Ms Brown. He also talked to Parade.com and USA Today.

Neil and David are on the cover of the new edition of Out Magazine, the publication’s second annual Love issue. Before Christmas Neil and David recorded an appearance on ABC’s daytime food talk show The Chew. The episode is scheduled to air tomorrow (Monday January 16th), with Neil and David participating in the “Meals for your Mate” segment. Neil’s Celebrity Week episode of The Price Is Right aired back at the start of January – if you missed it, you can watch clips on the official TPIR YouTube Channel. Videos that feature Neil include Neil plays Gas Money and a backstage interview.

The 38th Annual People’s Choice Awards were held last night at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, and Neil took home the award for Favorite TV Comedy Actor! Watch his acceptance speech here:

Katy Perry also won Favorite TV Guest Star for her role on HIMYM, so it was a good night for the show! You can see a full list of nominees and winners for the night here, which includes Neil’s Doctor Horrible co-star Nathan Fillion taking home the Favorite TV Drama Actor award for Castle.

While they were in New York last week, Neil and David recorded an episode of The Chew with chef Mario Batali. Airdate is yet to be officially confirmed but is expected to be early January. The Chew airs weekdays at 1et/12pt/c on ABC.

Neil is also scheduled to make his annual appearance narrating the Candlelight Processional at Walt Disney World next week, December 10th-12th.

NEIL PATRICK HARRIS JOINS KELLY RIPA AS GUEST CO-HOST ON “LIVE! WITH KELLY,” NOVEMBER 28-DECEMBER 2, 2011

NEW YORK, NY – Award-winning actor NEIL PATRICK HARRIS will return to New York City to join Kelly Ripa as guest co-host on “LIVE! with Kelly” for five shows, November 28-December 2, 2011.

Harris is a favorite on “LIVE!” and has filled the co-host chair next to Ripa on multiple occasions. Among the guests sitting down with Ripa and Harris are the inimitable Betty White; “SNL” and “Up All Night” star Maya Rudolph; “Desperate Housewives” actress Marcia Cross; supermodel Molly Sims; and actresses Angie Harmon and Kristen Johnston. The week also will feature musical performances by Avril Lavigne, Hot Chelle Rae and Cobra Starship, plus a special demo by Science Bob.

Neil and David also talked to EOnline at last weekend’s LA Gay and Lesbian Center 40th Anniversary Gala about how they don’t go out of their way to be role models.

Yesterday Neil and David attended both the Muppets movie premiere and the LA Gay and Lesbian Center’s 40th Anniversary Gala and Auction. We’ve added photos from both events to our gallery.

Then in the evening, Neil and David were honoured with the Rand Schrader Distinguished Achievement Award at the “40 Years of Family” themed event for the LA Gay and Lesbian Center. Greg in Hollywood has a nice rundown of the event & Neil and David’s speech here.

“We are so honored to be here on the 40th anniversary of this incredible and important institution,” Harris said before slipping into humor and adding: “It’s hard to believe that it’s been 40 years since The Center first invented gays and lesbians. And we are so happy that they did.”

David, taking on the straight man role if you will, added: “More to the point, we are extraordinarily grateful that we are able to stand here today as a same-sex couple with children and not feel like we are some kind of freak show or some kind of government experiment gone awry.”

Neil then paid tribute to other famous gay parents before them like Dan Savage and Cynthia Nixon, BD Wong, Cat Kora. Ricky Martin, Sara Gilbert, Clay Aiken, Rosie O’Donnell, among others who he described as “courageous people who stood tall long before it became acceptable to do so.”

“The fact is, David and I don’t even consider ourselves true activists. There’s a lot of other people who do that heavy lifting. Sometimes we choose to raise our voices so that the world can hear us but other times we just, frankly, we just want to curl up at home and be a family together.”
