Neil on Ellen, Shorty Awards voting

Neil will be a guest the Ellen DeGeneres Show this coming Friday, January 14th. The show is syndicated so airs at different times and on different networks – you can check your local listings at the Ellen show site here.

The 3rd Annual Shorty Awards are in full swing, and you can nominate pretty much anything/anyone that’s on Twitter. We would love it if you would take a moment to nominate us, Neil, or The Trevor Project for one of this year’s awards.

Neil lends voice to Disneyland’s “California Screamin’”

Further to Neil’s tweet at the weekend, it’s been confirmed that he is the new voice for California Screamin’. According to Disney Parks Blog, the recordings are in the style of a carnival show barker, in keeping with the surrounding boardwalk amusements in Paradise Pier.

Disneyland News Today has posted a video clip featuring Neil’s recordings, which you can view here and you can read more about the ride at Disneyland’s Official Site.

Congratulations to Neil and David!

I was all set to make a post about the premiere of The Best & The Brightest which will be taking place in Philadelphia tomorrow night, but it will have to wait. For all those of you not on Twitter, Neil tweeted the following a couple of minutes ago:

Babies!! On 10/12, Gideon Scott and Harper Grace entered the Burtka-Harris fold. All of us are happy, healthy, tired, and a little pukey.

The Best & The Brightest fan poster contest!

The Best & The Brightest are currently running a poster competition – they’re asking fans to create a poster for the movie using still pictures they’ve provided. The submissions will be voted on by fans and the winner displayed on the website and at the movie’s premiere at the Philadelphia Film Festival in a few weeks’ time. The contest is open until Sunday, so get your entries in!

Tickets for the premiere went on sale today. The Best & The Brightest’s page is currently the most viewed page on the PFF festival website so if you’re planning to buy tickets, get in there before they sell out! Tickets for all three screenings (the premiere on Oct 16th, and further screenings on Oct 18th and 24th) are available directly on this page.

Here’s a bit of a link roundup of videos and interviews – most are Rent related and were conducted before last weekend’s shows.

Before last weekend’s Rent production, Southern California Public Radio conducted a five minute interview with Neil about Rent, which you can listen to on their website, and the Orange County Register talked to him too.Vanessa Hudgens talked to MTV about working with Neil, and there’s a nice quote from Neil about Vanessa at the end of the article. After the event, Suite101.com posted a good writeup of the show. Sky.com’s Showbiz section also has a video from rehearsals.

Neil talked to eonline about the chances of him coming back to Glee, and provided EW.com with his “Must List” – you can check out three items from his must-see list here.

Dracula’s Daughters vs the Space Brains will be showing at the Oklahoma Horror Film Festival on Labor Day weekend, Sept 3rd-5th – check out their website for more details and a short interview with director Frank Ippolito.

Congratulations to Neil & David – they’re expecting twins!

News broke on eonline earlier today that Neil & David are expecting twins via a surrogate this coming October. Our basic mission statement here is that we don’t post anything that we feel Neil wouldn’t like to see/read if he ever came across this site or invades the privacy of Neil, David and their family in any way. So we’re thrilled that Neil himself confirmed the news on his Twitter account around an hour ago, saying: “So, get this: David and I are expecting twins this fall. We’re super excited/nervous/thrilled. Hoping the press can respect our privacy…”

We want to take this opportunity to send our congratulations to both Neil and David on this fantastic news and while we’re not exactly “the press”, we’ll certainly be doing our part to respect that privacy!

Accomplice: London – presented by Tom Salamon & Neil Patrick Harris

Vacation time has taken its’ toll on our regularity of updates, so there’s a backlog of interview links and videos we need to post. That’s coming some time this week, but for now, something much more important!

After the success of Accomplice: Hollywood, which launched in Los Angeles last year, Neil and Tom Salamon have teamed up once again, this time to produce Accomplice: London with the Menier Chocolate Factory in London. Shows begin on Saturday, September 4th, and are every half hour from 12 noon until 4pm. Each show lasts approximately three hours.

Sending its audience on a trek through the South Bank of London, participants are sent on a mission, aided by clues and mysterious cast members strewn throughout various locations such as streetcorners, pubs, out of the way shops, and iconic locations. Audiences in groups of 10 traverse the city streets, piecing together clues of a meticulously crafted plot.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow, August 5th, at 3pm. All tickets cost £29.50 with a £2 transaction fee – for more details, visit the Menier website here. As a Brit who hasn’t yet made it out for any of the original Accomplice shows, I’ll be buying!

Neil to receive star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Walk of Fame Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced today that Neil will be one of the recipients of a star in 2011.

A new group of entertainment professionals in motion pictures, television, live theater, and recording have been selected to receive stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, it was announced today by the Walk of Fame Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. These individuals were chosen from among hundreds of nominations to the committee at a meeting held on June 14, 2010 and ratified by the Chamber’s Board of Directors.

In the television category, Neil will be joined by Danny DeVito, Tina Fey, Simon Fuller, John Langley, Ed O’Neill, John Wells, and Oprah Winfrey.

More details of Neil’s star ceremony still to come. Recipients have five years from the date of nomination to schedule their ceremony, or else it will expire.

Congratulations, Neil! What a nice almost-birthday present for you!

Neil recently pledged his support after a fire destroyed an Albuquerque theatre where he once performed. Neil talked to Action 7 News about the disaster, and you can see a short interview with his brother Brian here.

“My brother Brian let me know about it and I looked it up online and I was shocked,” Harris told Action 7 News by phone. “I was John Darling in the production of ‘Peter Pan’ that they did. It was one of the first bigger scale things that I had ever done,” said Harris. Harris said he’s willing to increase awareness and help out however he can to keep this community theater from closing the curtain.”It’s a hard industry to maintain,” said Harris. “You know, community theatre is tough. It’s scrappy, and so to lose a lot of your resources in one fell swoop is a big blow.”

If you want to help out, the theatre will soon be accepting donations at their website, musicaltheatersw.com.

It has now been confirmed that Neil is voicing the character of Lou in Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore. You can hear him briefly in the trailer at 0.40 and 0.58. The movie is due for release July 30 this year.

Finally, Neil is due to guest host Live with Regis & Kelly with Kelly Ripa next Monday, June 7th.
