Yesterday Neil and David attended both the Muppets movie premiere and the LA Gay and Lesbian Center’s 40th Anniversary Gala and Auction. We’ve added photos from both events to our gallery.

Neil was interviewed by HollywoodJunket and FilmFracture at the Muppets premiere.

Then in the evening, Neil and David were honoured with the Rand Schrader Distinguished Achievement Award at the “40 Years of Family” themed event for the LA Gay and Lesbian Center. Greg in Hollywood has a nice rundown of the event & Neil and David’s speech here.

“We are so honored to be here on the 40th anniversary of this incredible and important institution,” Harris said before slipping into humor and adding: “It’s hard to believe that it’s been 40 years since The Center first invented gays and lesbians. And we are so happy that they did.”

David, taking on the straight man role if you will, added: “More to the point, we are extraordinarily grateful that we are able to stand here today as a same-sex couple with children and not feel like we are some kind of freak show or some kind of government experiment gone awry.”

Neil then paid tribute to other famous gay parents before them like Dan Savage and Cynthia Nixon, BD Wong, Cat Kora. Ricky Martin, Sara Gilbert, Clay Aiken, Rosie O’Donnell, among others who he described as “courageous people who stood tall long before it became acceptable to do so.”

“The fact is, David and I don’t even consider ourselves true activists. There’s a lot of other people who do that heavy lifting. Sometimes we choose to raise our voices so that the world can hear us but other times we just, frankly, we just want to curl up at home and be a family together.”

Neil and David will be honored at L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center’s 40th Anniversary Gala & Auction. The event will take place on Saturday November 12th at the Westin Bonaventure in LA. The event’s theme is “40 Years of Family” and David told eonline how honored they are. The official press release is here.

Harris and Burtka are steadfast supporters of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) organizations, including the Center. They’ve given generously to help LifeWorks, the Center’s youth development and mentoring program, thrive.

The two have been out publicly for years, and as the proud fathers of twins they’re the perfect pair to join the Center in celebrating “40 Years of Family” at the gala.

“We’re honored to be a part of this important celebration for the Center, which offers so many important services to LGBT youth and LGBT-parented families like ours,” Harris says. “The gala raises thousands of dollars to support services like meals and housing for homeless youth, a charter school for young people bullied and harassed in traditional schools, mentoring services and much more.”

Neil’s Walk of Fame star ceremony, in which his star on Hollywood Blvd was unveiled, took place yesterday. The guest speakers were Joss Whedon and Jason Segel – to see Jason’s speech and Neil’s, E! Online has video of them up now, as well as a quick interview with Neil that took place after the ceremony. Joss’s speech can be viewed on YouTube, and official footage from the ceremony should be going up on the Walk of Fame YouTube account in the next few days. Neil told ET Online that he can’t wait to go back and see his star after all of the people are gone, and they also include a clip of the actual unveiling in their video.

There are now a little over three months until San Diego Comic Con and both Rach and I will be attending this year.

It’s too soon to know which TV shows and films will be represented at the convention however previous NPH projects have had a presence at the event – after all, this is a man who has voiced Peter Parker/Spider-Man (plus the Amazing Spider-Man in the recent video game, Nightwing and Barry Allen/The Flash. Really now, surely Joss Whedon must be able to find a space for him in The Avengers? This year we have a new Harold & Kumar movie to look forward (A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas) and certainly the stars of that franchise are no strangers to Comic Con.

And of course let’s not forget The Smurfs! If they can invade New York, is San Diego any safer?

One thing’s for certain: thanks to Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, Neil is pretty much destined to always have a place in con-goers hearts. If we hear about any specific events planned for this year’s convention we’ll be sure to let you know and hopefully we’ll also be in a position to report back on these.

Neil and David will be taking part in the Ojai Playwrights Conference annual benefit, joining a lineup that includes Jane Kaczmarek, Stacy Keach, Ron Rifkin, Steven Weber and Noah Wyle.

The event, themed “Substance of Desire”, will take place on Saturday, March 26 at 5.30pm, and will be a celebration of “love, lust and laughter in the plays of Brothers & Sisters creator Jon Robin Baitz. Baitz penned ‘The Paris Letter’, which Neil performed in with Josh Radnor and Ron Rifkin in 2004, and both Neil and David have performed at the conference in previous years.

The Best and the Brightest has announced that tickets for its’ first screenings in LA (at The Cinefamily on N. Fairfax Ave) are now on sale. The previews will be on Monday April 11th, with Bridget Regan in attendance – and Tuesday April 12th, with Bonnie Somerville doing the Q&A honours this time. Neil has been added to the list of presenters for this year’s Grammy awards. The ceremony takes place at the Staples Center this coming Sunday, February 13th, and will be broadcast live on CBS from 8pm til 11.30pm.

Eight-time GRAMMY^® winner, current nominee, and 2011 MusiCares^® Person of the Year Barbra Streisand will appear in a rare performance on the 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards^® (www.grammy.com), and three-time GRAMMY winner Kris Kristofferson will introduce Streisand’s performance. Pop singer/actor Miley Cyrus, two-time Emmy^® winner Neil Patrick Harris, Kristofferson, six-time GRAMMY winner and current nominee John Legend, current nominee Paramore, and actor Seth Rogen have been added as presenters to Music’s Biggest Night^®. Neil has been announced as one of the celebs set to attend the People’s Choice awards next Wednesday, January 5th. The awards take place at the Nokia Theater in LA and will be broadcast live on CBS.

Eonline caught up with Neil at the Spike VGAs on Saturday, and they talked about their first Christmas with the twins, and his hosting advice for Anne Hathaway and James Franco.

Neil will be returning to the New York stage in April, for a three night run of Stephen Sondheim’s Company. The performances will be presented by the New York Philharmonic and directed by Lonnie Price. There will be four shows across three days, running from April 7-9 at Avery Fisher Hall. Neil will also be participating in San Francisco Sketchfest this year. After being forced to pull out last year due to work, he returns to the lineup to take part in “Brian Henson in Conversation with Neil Patrick Harris”, on January 23rd at 1pm at Cobb’s Comedy Club, and The Paul F Tompkins Show, January 23rd at 7pm.

Brian Henson is the Chairman of the Jim Henson Company and recently created and launched the company’s live stage show “Stuffed and Unstrung”. Tickets cost $45 and are available here.

A yearly favorite at SF Sketchfest, The Paul F. Tompkins Show is a variety show for the 21st Century. Neither a parody of, nor a slavish re-creation of, “olde-tyme sho-biz,” The Paul F. Tompkins Show combines comedy and music in a contemporary fashion. So… sorry, plate-spinning fans!

The Trevor Project have announced that Neil will be joining a number of star names for at this year’s Trevor LIVE event. Neil will be performing a duet with James Marsden at the event, which takes place Sunday, December 5th at the Hollywood Palladium.

Hollywood’s most talented and irreverent stars will gather at the Hollywood Palladium to celebrate “Trevor LIVE”, the annual show benefitting The Trevor Project on Sunday, December 5, 2010. Recognizing the suicide prevention efforts of community leaders, the Trevor Life Award honoree is Kathy Griffin, and Trevor Hope Award honoree is Levi Strauss & Co., with guest performances by Sarah Silverman, Wayne Brady, Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel, Neil Patrick Harris and James Marsden, Queen Latifah, Telly Leung, The Dan Band, and Tracie Thoms. This one-of-a-kind show is under the guidance of Special Guest Producing Director Adam Shankman, with Special Guest Musical Director Ricky Minor, Special Guest Choreographer Mia Michaels, and Special Guest Script Writers Carol Liefer and Bruce Vilanch.

When Neil hosted the Emmy Awards last year, John Hodgman was enlisted to introduce the winners up to the stage, using “less than credible” facts. This year’s gimmick is for host Jimmy Fallon to introduce the presenters for some of the awards using messages sent in on Twitter.

For example, Fallon said, he’ll announce the chosen tweet, user name included: “(At)blahblahblah says Jon Hamm is the hottest guy of all time. Here he is, Jon Hamm,” NBC’s “Late Night” host riffed.
