The Magic Castle is the world’s most famous club for magicians and magic enthusiasts and home to The Academy of Magical Arts, Inc. Neil Patrick Harris is one of many supporters who serves as the vice-president of the academy’s board of directors.

The Magic Castle is the private clubhouse for the Academy of Magical Arts, Inc., a very special organization devoted to the advancement of the ancient art of magic. The purpose of The Academy is to encourage and promote public interest in the art of magic with particular emphasis on preserving its history as an art form, entertainment medium, and hobby. Beginning with a charter membership of 150, the Academy has grown into a world-renowned fraternal organization with a membership of nearly 5,000.

As we reported in March, Neil recorded the narration for an 8 minute documercial on healthy gums. The site went live today, and you can view the documentary here. For every time the video is watched, $1 will be donated to The National Children’s Oral Health Foundation: America’s Toothfairy. Viewers outside the United States, or watching from within Maine, Massachusetts, South Carolina or Alabama will not trigger a donation – for more information, click here. There is also a 2 minute behind the scenes video on the website, but thanks to the people at Listerine, we’ve got that video for you to watch below. As previously posted, Neil will be appearing in the semi-final of Celebrity Jeopardy against Cheech Marin and Kaczmarek. We can now confirm that their semi-final will be the third, airing next Wednesday, May 5th. Neil will once again be playing for Food On Foot – the winner will receive $1m for their charity, and the second and third placed players will receive $250,000 and $100,000 respectively. All of the semi finalists will take away $50,000 for their charity.

ReelzChannel talked to Neil recently about gameshows, and how he prepared for playing blind in Beastly. You can watch the video here. After being selected as The Trevor Project‘s 2009 Trevor Life Award honouree, Neil has been elected to the board of directors, along with writer, producer and director Dustin Lance Black. The Trevor Project is “the leading national organization focused on crisis and suicide prevention efforts among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth.”

“I’ve been a longtime supporter of The Trevor Project, and I’m excited to become even more actively involved in raising awareness of its unique and vital mission,” said Neil Patrick Harris. “I hope that my involvement with The Trevor Project will help bring attention to the need for effective crisis and suicide prevention services for LGBTQ youth nationwide.”

Clothes Off Our Back are auctioning the Dolce & Gabbana tie that Neil wore on the Emmys red carpet (seen here). Proceeds from the auction benefit Clothes Off Our Back’s charities including Feeding America, The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA, Malaria No More and Hope North. The auction closes this Thursday, October 22nd, at 17:00 PST and the bidding currently stands at $105 – a bargain!

Clothes Off Our Back are also auctioning a script from the pilot episode of HIMYM, signed by all five cast members. Bidding for that also closes at 17:00 on Thursday and the current high bid is $150.

Neil has donated a, 8 x 10 print signed by himself, Joss Whedon, Nathan Fillion and Felicia Day which is being offered together with a brand new, unsigned copy of the Dr Horrible DVD.

All proceeds go to the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.

Among the items currently up for bid is the Paul Smith tie that Neil wore to this year’s Emmy awards ceremony. The bid currently stands at $90 and the auction closes on October 21st at 17:00 PST.
